The Road To Law School Explained By Hermione Granger

Time for little relateable humor friends!

I have known I wanted to be a lawyer since I was a little girl. I am not sure if I just woke up one day and said, "I want to be a lawyer," or if I was highly impacted by Elle Woods, but there has never been another career path on my mind. Going from a starry-eyed little girl to a law student has been an interesting road full of twists and turns, good times and bad times and a lot of times asking myself if this is really what I want to do with my life. In the end, I know this is the right career for me, and I am only I academic year shy of graduating law school which both excites and terrifies me. But for all of you out there with the same goals, here is a fun little post about the road we take to pursue that legal education- both good, bad and ugly and all the thoughts I had along the way accompanied by memes of the queen Hermione Granger.

1. I Want to Grow Up and be a Lawyer!
It looks super fun in "Legally Blonde"! I like arguing! And this is how I decided to be a lawyer at seven years old.

2. Start College as Pre-Law Student

I am here to get a 4.0, be involved in everything, start studying for the LSAT tomorrow and basically crush this whole college thing just like Hermione crushed it at Hogwarts. (Reality was more like, procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate and somehow pull a decent GPA).

3. My First Legal Internship

Well, this escalated quickly... One day I am starting college and asking my advisor to help me find an internship and next thing I know, I am sitting next to a defense attorney in a courtroom five feet from a murderer organizing his papers. (Seriously the best experience though!)

4. LSAT is in six months... Study Time

So much to study and so little time... Why did I procrastinate for this? Logic games might kill me and this test only slightly decides the entire rest of my legal education and career path. No pressure.

5. LSAT aka Test of Death

I wanted to cry before, during and after I took the test. It was awful... torture... totally barbaric.

6. The Score I Needed!

I got the score I needed for my target school! I do not have to retake the LSAT or ever think about it again! (jumping up and down and freaking out like a spastic idiot in public at 10 p.m. because that is when the email arrived)

7. Applying...

If I have to fill in my name, email and address one more time... and $30 per application? Seriously?

8. First Acceptance

IT'S HAPPENING! I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO LAW SCHOOL!

9. Choosing a School

Seven acceptances... varying scholarships... too many decisions and headaches for days.

10. I am Going to be a lawyer!

I chose a school! I am going to Law School! I am actually on my way to being a lawyer. It's scary and exciting and the beginning of an exciting journey. Next stop, law school. I am stocking up on highlighters, coffee, and legal pads. Time to do law school Hermione Granger-style.
Is this how other law students feel about the process to getting there?

  2. I like Hermione! And want to be like she. And I try to search that types of education post that can help for students QandA and can gain new knowladges.
