How I Spent My Break from Law School

The last few weeks have been glorious... After finals, I was so ready to detox and relax for a while... and it has been wonderful. I do not know how the time went so fast. I am back to school in 6 short days! Part of me wants break to last forever and the other part of me is ready to get back into the swing of things. I have filled my break with lots of wonderful things but here is the top 10.

1. Non-Legal Reading
It was so refreshing to pick up a book that did not involve cases or black letter law. I read the screenplay of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Royal We. It was wonderful to just curl up with a good book and some tea and let some time pass.

2. A New Binge
I have been holding off on a lot of new TV shows until break. Over break, I watched Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (loved it!!!!). I also started and fell helplessly in love with Outlander. I am obsessed: history, mystery, hot Scottish men, Scottish accents and stunning vistas of Scotland make this show absolutely addicting. I signed up for a free trial of Starz streaming to watch.

3. Kitchen Time
I slacked off big time in the kitchen with finals and finishing the semester. Break gave me a chance to do some serious baking and testing out new recipes. My husband has to eat Gluten Free so I got a chance to test out lots of fun new recipes that are Gluten Free.

4. Hubby Time
My husband had a few days off work and it was so nice to just spent time together with nothing else pulling at our attention. Normally we are both so busy, me with school and he works 60 hours a week on average. It was nice to just take some time to lay on the couch, make brunch together, watch movies and just make us a priority for a few days. Sometimes you have to step back and put your marriage first for a few days.

5. Sleep
I was so overdue on sleep and my body was telling on me. I just let myself wake up whenever and it. felt. so. good.

6. Puppy Love
My Golden got spayed over the holidays so she needed a lot of TLC that I was happy to have the time to give her. We also found a dog park, got our membership and are ready to check it out when the weather breaks. On top of that, we spent a ton of time playing ball and cuddling on the couch- nothing better than puppy love to make you feel better.

7. Internship Search
It was not all fun and games- I spent a lot of time looking for internships, applying and perfecting my resume. Not much fun but necessary.

8. Prep for Next Semester
Also not fun and games was buying books and getting prepped for next semester. Binders, notebooks, syllabi and all that fun stuff. The good part was that my second semester of Law School cost $25. The bad part is it starts back up in 6 days.

9. Beauty Overhaul
Something else I made time for over break was upgrading my beauty regimen. New makeup and new face care products to replace my outdated drugstore varieties. As I get older, I am becoming more conscious of my skin and taking better care of it. The sooner I start that, the better I will look when I am 50 (hopefully). Post coming on my new regimen soon!

10. New Hair
I changed my hair color from dirty blonde to brunette. I was ready for a change and my hair was wayyy overdue. There is something so refreshing about a new look for the new year. Heading back to school with a new look and ready to rock out my second semester.

So there you go: how 3 weeks with no classes looked in my world. What did you do over break?
