Friday Five 8/10/18

Happy Friday!

I am usually happier on Fridays but I take the MPRE tomorrow so I am seriously stressing about that at the moment- wish me luck!

In other news, I had a very productive week around the house and I am starting to get myself ready to go back to school very soon. I came across a few exciting things for my Friday Five this week so here they are!

1. Anne with an E
Image result for anne with an e
So I am not sure how I have missed this on Netflix until now but this is seriously the cutest show. I absolutely love historical dramas and this one is just so lighthearted and fun. I binged right through the first 2 seasons in less than a week. I loved reading Anne of Green Gables as a young girl and this just brings it to life so well and the casting is spot on. I have my fingers crossed for season 3!

Friday Five 8/3/2018

Happy Friday! How is it August already??? This Summer FLEW by. I can't believe I start my 3L year in 2 weeks. I tend to forget my little "Friday Five" posts but I remembered today! Here are a few favorites from this week!

1. Mini-Vacation
Last weekend, I went with my parents on a quick 3 day get-away to my grandparent's cottage on Lake Michigan. I read books on the beach, picked fresh blueberries, ate the best ice cream, made smores and enjoyed some wonderful family time. It was the perfect little getaway before 3L year stars.

Friday Five 11/10/17

Hello friends!
Another busy week... finals are coming on fast. I can't believe how fast this semester has been flying. I do not have any classes or work today in observance of Veterans Day so I have collected my 5 Friday Favorites this week.

1. reputation
I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT. I have been obsessed since she released Tim McGraw, her very first song. Her songs have always been relatable and my favorite jams. I have followed her through the transition from country to pop and I love her no matter what. I have been anxiously awaiting new music and enter reputation, her newest album. It dropped at midnight and I have not yet had a chance to buy it but I will be soon! I am liking the new singles so far, even if they are different. It wouldn't matter though, I am a Swifty for life and nothing can change that!

2. Instant Pot
Guys... this is basically magic. I never seem to have enough time to cook dinner... night classes and extra reading just leave no time for cooking most days. I have been reading a lot about the Instant Pot and decided it was worth a try. It is a game changer. Fully cooked chicken and baked potatoes in 20 minutes. Spaghetti and meatballs in 15 minutes. I can't even describe how amazing this thing is. It cooks by pressure which is why it cooks so fast. It cleans up easily and had made dinner on busy nights possible. So worth the money!!

3. Seat Cushion
Law school friends... this is life-changing. I hate sitting at my desk for the massive amount of hours law school requires. I have scoliosis and my back is always so sore from all the bending over my desk and sitting in crappy desk chairs. I came across this seat cushion on Amazon and given how bad my back was hurting, I decided to give it a try. Best decision ever. The cushion is designed in a unique U-shape is recommended most by orthopedists and doctors to improve chronic and acute pain, by alleviating pressure in strategic areas surrounding the sciatic nerve. It has helped me so much in just a short time. I think anyone who sits as much as law students do could benefit from this!! Well worth the cost.

4. Hallmark Channel
I LOVE Christmas... like more than normal people. As soon as Halloween was over, I am in full Christmas mode. The Hallmark Channel has begun their 24/7 Christmas movie marathon and I am loving every second. The movies are the perfect study break- sweet, simple and festive. I love the sweet romance and adorable storylines... it feeds my inner sappy romantic. I know people say to wait until after Thanksgiving.... well 25 days just isn't enough Christmas for me so if anyone needs me I will be glued to the Hallmark Channel from now until Dec. 25.

5. CMA Performance by Carrie Underwood
I had a class canceled this week so I actually had time to sit down and watch the CMA awards on Nov. 8th. I am a lifetime lover of country music and this show was full of wonderful performances. My favorite artist of all time, Garth Brooks, won Entertainer of the Year again and Tim and Faith performed their new song *swoon*. But the highlight for me was this truly awesome remembrance performance of a classic gospel hymn by Carrie Underwood. I shed a tear when Tom Petty was shown, I shed a few more for Troy Gentry and I broke down sobbing on my couch when the Vegas victims came on the screen.... throughout the many speeches given throughout the night, a message of peace, love and unity was consistently present and this show of remembrance put me over the edge. It was great to see country music pulling together in the aftermath of tragedy and remembering those lost to a senseless act of violence.

Enjoy the holiday weekend! Thank you to all who have served our country past and present.

Friday Five

It's been awhile since I did this... to be honest I just forgot! I start my 2L year of law school on Monday, this weekend my husband and I are enjoying the last few days of freedom by going to the lake and a BBQ and I finally finished a few DIY projects around our house. It has been a great week and a great summer but I am ready to get back into the swing of law school. Without further ado, here is my Friday Five!

1. DIY Marble Laptop Cover

For anyone who follows my Instagram, you might have noticed my easy little DIY laptop cover. I have been wanting a Marble laptop cover but they only make them for MacBooks and I have a Dell. I got a little creative and figured out my own way to do it! I used simple Marble print contact paper and simply cut it to size and covered my boring old Dell laptop. It looks so fancy now! I love it! Here is the contact paper I used; it was easy to cut and stuck really well to my laptop without air bubbles.

2. Painted Fireplace
Before

After
I finally convinced my husband to paint our fireplace white. We don't have a lot of natural light in our living room and our focal point, the fireplace, was so dark. Painting it white gave it new life and brightened the whole room. I LOVE it. It was simple and cheap but makes such a huge difference in the look of the room. We also purchased this fake electric fireplace which gives the look and atmosphere of a wood fire without the mess and hassle.

3. Friendsfest
Why did I just now find out this exists?? In the UK, they literally recreate the Friends set and let fans act like the group for a few days; they have a hairdresser giving people "the Rachel" and you can even get Central Perk coffee. I do not know why this doesn't exist in the USA but it should because I will be there in a heartbeat. Friends is one of my favorite shows of all time and I would be so darn happy to do something like that.

4. Garth Brooks World Tour
I am quite honestly the biggest Garth Brooks fan ever. I literally named my dog Garth Brooks in his honor... I am not kidding. I have every CD, I know the words to literally every song he has ever released and I finally saw him live in concert about 2 years ago and it was a lifetime dream come true. He is finishing his North American tour on October 7th in Indianapolis and I want to go SO badly. Fingers crossed we get tickets!

5. The Lion King
Public service announcement to all 90's babies: The Lion King is getting re-released on DVD and Blu-ray in stores soon and my childhood is flooding back because it is seriously the best. That was my absolute favorite Disney movie as a little girl and I was adamant about wanting a pet Lion for a long time.... I think I will have to settle for dressing my Golden Retriever up as a Lion for Halloween this year and sing the Circle of Life every time she walks in the room... seems like a quality plan. Too bad she's too big for the Simba lift.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Five 5/26/17

Wow I have been slacking on this... life has just been busy. Finishing school, starting my internship, adjusting to working 9-5 every day... But I am ready to make blogging a priority again! Without further adieu, five things I am thinking about this Friday!

1. Poshmark
Why did I just now discover this?!? Designer clothes cheap? Yes please!! I have ordered a variety of items and I have been tickled to death with everything. I also have been doing a bit of closet cleaning and selling on there to get rid of things I just don't wear. It's awesome! Use this code to sign up after downloading the app - UQNBO

2. Harry Styles on the Late Late Show
I may have skipped out on the One Direction craze but I am 110% on board with the Harry Styles craze of late. I am obsessed with his new album, I can't wait to see him in Dunkirk and he is absolutely hilarious with James Corden... they should co-host all the time. I watched all of the segments today and died laughing.

3. V8 Energy Drinks
An attorney in our office got me hooked on these this week. They are a perfect little burst of energy for mid-afternoon. They are little fruit drinks with natural B12 energy. I have to have one in my lunch every day now!

4. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Yay for new episodes! I adore this show- it is so cute and so fun. I got hooked on the first season last summer and I have anxiously been awaiting the next season. If you are looking for a quick, fun binge watch- this is it!

5. Mrs. Meyers Cleaning Supplies
I just got a shipment of these (detailed post coming soon) and I am obsessed. The basil scent especially is amazing. I went on a major house cleaning spree after they arrived and It was so nice to clean without worrying about harsh chemicals yet still getting a good clean.

Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy the long weekend but do not forget the reason. Thank you to all service men and women, currently serving, retired or selflessly lost in service, who make this country safe and free. Memorial Day is a lot more than just a reason to have off work- do not forget that.

Friday Five 4/7/17

It's finally Friday- YAY! What a week... I got a yucky cold, it has been raining every single day and I feel like all I did was outline property. However, there were some bright spots; one of my best friends got engaged and I got to put together the cutest little engagement gift box to send off to her. I also picked out a gift for an upcoming wedding we are attending and it was too fun. I love gifting- it is fun to take the time to piece together something you know that person will love and use and knowing the smile it will bring to their face. I love it!Law school finals are growing ever closer... as is my internship. On top of all the studying and outlining, I am starting to freak out about my internship and if I have enough "dress up" clothes.... I keep begging my hubby to take me shopping.

This weekend is my nephew's first birthday party and we will be going to our hometown and meeting up with some old friends so it should be a good weekend.

Friday Five 3/31/17

Well, guys... I haven't been doing very well with these lately. But I am back with the Friday five this week! This week has been busy- I did my oral argument, outlined like crazy, had lots of housework to do.... it was a bit busy. Finals are only 3 weeks away so it is crunch time!! Also, I went to see Beauty and the Beast- unbelievable and perfect.

In other news, here's what I have had my eyes on lately!

1. The Zookeepers Wife
This came out in theatres today and I am dying to go see it. I have heard of this story a few times and it astonishes me every time. The head zookeeper of the Warsaw Zoo and his wife hide and aid many jews during the second world war. It is an amzing story of courage and conviction in the face of horror.

2. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
This finally came out of DVD tuesday and I, being the giant Harry Potter nerd that I am, bought it immediatly and watched it that same night. It is as good as I remember it being in theatres. Now I cannot wait for the next movie to be released!

3. Shop 'til you Drop
I did a little online shopping this week.... J.Crew factory had 50% off clearence so I got some killer deals on new items to wear to my internship this summer. Working in the prosecuters office is going to recquire me to dress up every day so I am trying to stock up on blouses, dress pants and pencil skirts now!

4. My New Purse
I have been searching for a new purse so I could retire my 3-year-old Michael Kors and I finally fell in love! This bag is just the right size, has great organization, the look is so classy, the quality is excellent and the price is super affordable. I have it in the "saddle" color.

5. Time After Time
I have been watching this show since the beginning and it is so good. The premise had me worried at first but watching it has me addicted. It involves Jack the Ripper and HG Wells traveling forward in time to 2017 and follows the adventures that follow. A little bit of history, suspense, and two hot British guys- it's a win! It airs on Sunday nights at 9pm on ABC.

Well this was slightly movie heavy- you can see where my brain is at lately. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Friday Five 3/10/17

Well today is not my day. I have to have an emergency root canal this afternoon due to a cracked molar :( not a fun way to end my spring break. Not that my spring break was exciting; I outlined, worked on my appellate brief and deep cleaned/organized my house. Pretty exciting stuff. On the plus side, my best friend is coming to visit this weekend and we are planning quite the girls night: face masks and wine while we watch the original Beauty and the Beast in anticipation of the new one! Something to look forward to after my dental appointment.

1. Love Actually Sequel
I love the movie Love Actually. It is one of my all time favorite movies to watch around Christmas. I just found out they are making a short revival and I am so stoked. All I know is that Hugh Grant is returning and he will still be Prime Minister so based on that alone I will certainly be watching. Love me some Hugh Grant. It will not be quite the same without Alan Rickman though.... :(

2. Spring Shopping
Anyone else feeling the need to purge the closet and go spring shopping? I set a laundry basket in my closet and I am trying to put something in it every day to donate to Goodwill. Then, I will not feel so bad as I online shop away and go to TJ Maxx every spare chance I get. There are so many cute things coming out and lots of great sales. So far I have gotten 4 new pairs of shoes and a few new shirts.... #shoppingaddiction

3. Doggie Art
How stinking adorable is everything in this shop??? I want it all! Custom doggie prints, mugs, etc. with about every dog breed there is and so many cute things like "Golden Brewing Co." with a Golden Retriever or "Australian Coffee Co." with an Australian Shepherd. I love it. He does other things besides dogs but lets be honest, I am really just in it for the dogs. Now what to order.... too many adorable options to choose.

4. Spotlight
Oh my goodness. This movie... so powerful. We read about this case in Criminal Law just a few weeks ago and when this came across my Netflix recommendations I had to watch it. A group of reporters crack a massive case in Boston dealing with a cover up of Catholic priests molesting children. I know it sounds a bit odd but it is a really powerful movie. Add it to the must watch list.

5. Making History
This show just premiered on Fox this week and it is hilarious. A little bit of history and a little bit of comedy makes for a fun little half hour show. I am definitely going to keep watching it because who doesn't want to see someone travel back to the revolutionary war in a duffel bag?

Have a good weekend! I'll be drinking milkshakes and icing my sore jaw after having my tooth ripped out.

Friday Five 3/3/17

I"M ON SPRING BREAK! Granted, my spring break will be full of my appellate brief and outlining but I do not have to attend class or leave my house for a week so it's still super exciting. I am so ready for some time to relax, rejuvenate and catch up on life. Spring break came just in time!

Friday Five

Happy Friday all!! I am starting up something new- I am calling it the "Friday five". Basically it is just me sharing five things that have piqued my interest throughout the week. Please let me know thoughts on this new blog idea!
