Friday Five 8/21/20

Happy Friday!

Life has been hectic lately. We are still super busy whipping our new little farm into shape: we adopted 4 rescue kittens, we have 8 chickens, we are clearing and fencing a new area for horses, we completely redid our barn and we've been painting and decorating the house in between. On top of that, I started back working in the office full time at the beginning of August which changed up the rhythm as well. So needless to say, blogging has continued to be a backseat project along with many other things.

I do not have much new to report outside of that. My life has been pretty boring but in the best possible way. We are loving our space and land. It has been so fulfilling to work hard on our property and see it transforming before our eyes. My soul is happier to finally be back in the country and back to my farm girl roots.

The stalls we built by hand in our little barn! It was a lot of hard work but I am so proud of our efforts
View of deer right out of my kitchen window. I love being in the country!

Friday Five 1/3/20

First Friday post of 2020!

This week kicked off the new year and so far so good.

I did not do anything exciting this week- I put away Christmas decor, cleaned my house, organized and studied. It was not a stimulating week but it was satisfying!

Happy Holidays!

To those who celebrate this season, I hope you had lovely celebrations with family and friends. To those who don't celebrate, I hope you enjoyed the unusually warm December days!

I had a wonderful holiday with family despite a nasty cold taking my voice and most of my energy.

We recently had a little Disney getaway and that was so fun.

1. Relative Insanity

I purchased this for my mom for Christmas, we played it and it was a HIT! Everyone had a blast- from my 85 year old grandparents, to my parents and my husband and I. It was created by country comedian Jeff Foxworthy (who is a favorite of mine). He said he wanted a game that the whole family could enjoy in the spirit of Cards Against Humanity. It is less vulgar/dirty (aka you can play it with your parents without blushing) but just as funny and enjoyable. Seriously a perfect game to have on hand to enjoy with any group of people!

2. The Witcher

This new series on Netflix comes with great hype and so far it is interesting. We are only 2 episodes in but so far we are enthralled. It is super well done. I am excited to watch further!

3. Brittany Runs a Marathon

This movie is just awesome. It is about a women who is a bit lost in life who up and decides to run the NYC marathon. Along the way, she finds friends, love and herself. It was so heartwarming and uplifting and makes me want to go jump on the treadmill! I love the message of how a small change can impact your whole life.

4. Hulu Live

About a month ago, we canceled Dish and went all in with Hulu Live for our TV service. Thus far, I really have no complaints. We get everything we want to watch, we have DVR, we have access to Hulu things and we save over $50 per month. I don't think you can go wrong!!

5. Royal Wedding Series by Rachel Hauck

I read the first book in this series, Once Upon a Prince, a few years ago and loved it. I finished the remaining books in the series in the last 5 days and loved everyone. These are basically Hallmark movies in book form- full of love, fluff, happiness, princes, baking and all things that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. There is also a lot of reality- they deal with some big, nasty issues in those pages. It is a faith based series but I found the stories perfectly woven together. I highly recommend if you are looking for a heartwarming read!

Happy Friday friends!!

A few exciting things this week. The photos from my best friends wedding were released and I am obsessed. It was such a beautiful day and I feel so blessed to have been a part of it (I was a bridesmaid and my husband was a groomsman). I love love!

Winter came in with a vengeance this week. We had 3 inches of snow and temperature in the teens. I don't generally mind winter but it does seem to be here a little too early this year. Good thing I have lots of cozy hats and jackets.

Happy Friday!!!

Last weekend, I visited with family and spent some quality time at the barn.

Then, I had a crazy whirlwind week- I was traveling for work and in 5 days, traveled over 17.5 hours in the car by myself. I represented my school at various law school fairs around New York, Ohio and Michigan. I finished a few audiobooks and met lots of awesome people at my various events. However, I am SO happy to be home.

This weekend, my husband and I are traveling to Columbus, OH for a wedding and spending some time with family.

Happy Friday friends!!!

I have been so absent on the blog lately. I have been having major computer issues and my computer finally crashed and died this week. My new one was delivered this week and hopefully now I can get back to a regular posting schedule with a more reliable machine.

I have also been fighting a head cold this week... it seems that my crazy life over the last 6 months finally caught up to me and I finally got sick. I am just so thankful that I wasn't sick during bar prep and the bar exam that I am not even mad about it now.

My job in my law schools admissions office is going really well and I get to start traveling next week which I am super excited for. I also have my house totally decked out for Fall and it makes me SO happy. Full fall home décor post coming next week hopefully!

Now for my Friday Five:

1. My new computer

Here is the new computer I ordered. It is very basic and simple but that's all I need right now. My first laptop was an ASUS so I am happy to be back with that brand. I really only use my computer for internet surfing, blogging and emails now that I am out of school and I don't need anything fancy. I don't even use the touchscreen and 2-in-1 features of my current computer so I know I didn't need to pay to have those features in a new computer. For less than $215, this computer seemed just right for my current needs and I am loving it so far. Stay tuned for a full review! I also bought an external hard drive to back up everything from my old computer.

2. Mindhunter
My husband and I finished this Netflix show this week and now I can't wait for the next season. While it was very slow to start and took a few episodes to get into, I really enjoyed the show overall. It follows the beginning of the FBI research into Serial Killers and how they interviewed imprisoned killers to gain profiling information. The show is very captivating and interesting if you are into serial killers and find them fascinating.

3. Fly Girls
My most recent read (actually I listened to it as an audiobook while driving to events) is Fly Girls by Keith O'Brien. This is the story of the early female aviators and their battle for equality in the sky's. It is the story of Amelia Earhart and her fellow aviatrix's such as Ruth Elder, Louise Thaden and Ruth Nichols. As someone who has never been interested in flying and aviation, I have been surprised by how enthralled I am with this book. It is a fascinating piece of history.

4. DIY Welcome Sign

I made this adorable DIY welcome sign this week. I have wanted one forever and finally got around to having time to DIY. I bought a simple piece of wood at Lowes, stained it and added vinyl letters that I cut out on my Cricut. I love how it turned out and my porch is so Autumn-y!

5. Instagram Giveaway
I am doing another monthly giveaway over on my Instagram! I am giving away some cute Fall things so head over to Instagram to enter!

Friday Five 8/20/19 / Sunday Six 9/1/19

I have to apologize for the fact that this post is a little late- it should have been published Friday but Google Chrome crashed on my computer and it has taken me a lot of time to get everything back in order.

Can you believe it's September??? This summer flew by and I can honestly say, I am 100% ready for it to be over. Thanks to the Bar Exam, this was one of my least favorite summers ever. I am ready for Fall and a fresh season without exams looming over my head.

My life has been pretty quiet... I have been enjoying a study free life and getting caught up on everything else in my life.

Last weekend I went to Nashville for a Bachelorette Party which was so fun!

I also got to meet my blogger friend Danielle in real life which was SO fun! Go follow her- she is a sweetheart!

Saturday night I went to a local Baseball game and had a blast.

Other than that, it's been work, relaxing and enjoying my free time.

I have a few fun favorites for you today; just some things I have been loving lately.

Sunday Six/Five 5/19/19

So it's been a week. This was supposed to be a Friday Five but in light of my getting in a car accident on Friday afternoon, it got pushed back to today. Thankfully I am 100% okay and my car only has cosmetic damage (the other driver was also fine and her car had no damage). So now I get to fit an autobody shop visit into my week so yay.

On a brighter note, I got a few grades back this week and I got an A in my favorite class from the semester! It also pushed my GPA way up and my husband had flowers delivered to our house to congratulate me. He is the SWEETEST <3

Otherwise, the rest of my week was pretty much nothing but bar prep. Enjoy these snaps of me doing the same thing day in, day out.

Friday night my sister and her family came over to visit. My nephew and my dog Gracie were born within two weeks of each other and they have been besties for life.

Saturday morning my friend brought her golden over for a playdate and it was so much fun.

Then, I drank Starbucks while my husband did yard work #marriagegoals.

Friday Five 5/10/19

Happy Friday!!!

This was my first full week of bar prep and so far it has been okay. I would not call it fun, but it is not the worse thing I have ever done.

My bar prep summer uniform... all about comfy and easy!

In between bar prep, I spent lots of quality time with the hubby and pups and caught up on some projects around the house and lots of TV. Overall, it was a pretty uneventful week.

Friday Five 4/12/19

Happy Friday!

This was my second to last week of school.... ever. I am ALMOST DONE. Overall, my week was pretty full of studying, outlining and getting ready for final exams. This weekend I have a banquet for Moot Court, judging try-outs for Moot Court next year and more studying for exams. Here are a few other snapshots from my week.

I spent my weekend at my parents farm hanging out with this guy. It was amazing.

Friday Five 4/6/19

Well, it's been a while since I have done this. Life has finally slowed down a touch... just in time for final exams. I have 2 weeks of class left in my entire academic career which is CRAZY. This week has been full of classes, catching up and starting my exam prep. I have also been trying to enjoy the nicer weather and spend time with my husband and pups. Here are some snaps from my week:
